Das Sommerfestival MINSK LIVE
Vom 28. bis 30. August 2026 feiert DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam sein erstes Sommerfestival: MINSK LIVE steht im Zeichen von Austausch, Begegnung und gemeinsamen Aktivitäten. Über drei Tage finden im Innen- und Außenraum des MINSK Live-Formate wie Performances, Musik, Film, kulinarische Erlebnisse, Workshops und ein diskursives Programm statt.
Den Auftakt des Festivals markiert die Eröffnung der Ausstellung Die Keramikwerkstatt von Wilfriede Maaß am Freitag, 28. August 2026.
Preview der Ausstellung Die Keramikwerkstatt von Wilfriede Maaß am Freitag
Die Ausstellung im Kabinettraum des MINSK, die später ab dem 5. September 2026 parallel zu der Retrospektive Annemirl Bauer. Bruch ist in der Welt präsentiert wird, zeichnet die Geschichte der Werkstatt von Wilfriede Maaß in Ost-Berlin nach. In den 1980er-Jahren war die in der Schönfließer Straße 21 gelegene Keramikwerkstatt, die nach der Wende auch zur Galerie wurde, ein wichtiger Freiraum für nichtkonforme Kunst in der DDR. Zu sehen sind von Wilfriede Maaß geformte und von verschiedenen Künstler:innen bemalte Services, Teller, Vasen und experimentelle Keramikskulpturen. Diese Objekte aus der Sammlung von Wilfriede Maaß treten in einen Dialog mit Gemälden der 1980er und 1990er-Jahre aus der Sammlung Hasso Plattner sowie mit Leihgaben von wichtigen Akteur:innen aus dem Umfeld der Werkstatt.
Am Freitag, 28. August, um 19 Uhr beginnt das Sommerfestival mit einem Künstlerinnengespräch zwischen Wilfriede Maaß und Sabine Herrmann, moderiert vom Kurator der Ausstellung Daniel Milnes.
Zwischen 18 und 22 Uhr ist zudem ein Filmprogramm im Open-Air-Kino zu sehen: Der Autor, Kurator und Filmhistoriker Claus Löser hat eine Auswahl von vier Kurzfilmen von Gino Hahnemann, Helge Leiberg, Christine Schlegel und Cornelia Schleime aus der ersten Hälfte der 1980er-Jahre getroffen, die direkt oder indirekt in Verbindung mit der Werkstatt stehen.
Parallel zum künstlerischen Programm veranstaltet die Cafébar HEDWIG gemeinsam mit OSC Berlin einen Abend mit Sake-Getränken und DJ-Set, der an die 1996 von Mikael Eriksson eingerichtete Sake Bar in der Galerie Wilfriede Maaß erinnert.
Programm-Highlights am Samstag und Sonntag
Ost-West-Kantine
Die Ost-West-Kantine ist ein künstlerisch-diskursives Format um die Künstlerinnen Gesine Danckwart, Katrin Hentschel und Masha Qrella. Sie stellen Begegnungen her, umkreisen Fragen von Ost- und West und verschränken Kunst, Musik, persönliche Geschichten und Diskurs. Das Setup der Kantine bedeutet: alle zusammen am Tisch. Publikum und Gäste. Es wird gemeinsam geschnippelt, gespielt, genäht, gebastelt, gesungen, gefeiert und gesprochen. Mit Gästen und Mitstreiter:innen wie Idil Baydar, Schorsch Kamerun, Stefanie Plattner, Grit Seymour und dem V.E.R.Z. Chor aus Potsdam. Für das Publikum werden Geschichten und vielfältige Perspektiven hörbar sein.
Künstlerische Interventionen
James Gregory Atkinson, W. A. Mozart für Sal. Orch. gesetzt v. Sabac-el-Cher

Auf Initiative von James Gregory Atkinson und unter der Leitung von Daniele G. Daude werden das Berliner String Archestra und eingeladene Musiker:innen zwei vom Preußischen Kapellmeister Gustav Sabac el Cher (1868 – 1934) arrangierte Stücke von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart neu interpretieren: die Ouvertüren zum Drama giocosa La Finta Giardiniera und zur Oper La Villanelle rapita. Das klassische Konzert wird flankiert von einer Vorstellung von Atkinsons Platte 3 Lieder für Marie Nejar am Samstag, 29. August 2026 sowie von einem Gespräch zwischen dem Künstler, der Schriftstellerin und Aktivistin Katharina Oguntoye und dem Musikwissenschaftler und Saxofonisten Harald Kisiedu am Sonntag, 30. August 2026. Beide Veranstaltungen werden vom Schriftsteller und Redakteur Eric Otieno Sumba moderiert.
Sarah Ama Duah, to build to bury to remember

In to build to bury to remember entwickelt die Künstlerin Sarah Ama Duah eine performative Installation zwischen Skulptur und Körper. Im MINSK errichtet sie gemeinsam mit vier Performer:innen lebendige Latex-Monumente, die aus ihrer Auseinandersetzung mit historischen Denkmälern und ihrem gegenwärtigen Potenzial hervorgehen.
Magdalena Mitterhofer, Manette
So, 30.08., 16.30 Uhr
In der ortsspezifischen Performance Manette werden auf dem Außengelände des MINSK Szenen inszeniert, die wirken, als seien sie einem Computerspiel entnommen. Ausgehend von historischen Referenzen und zugleich auf eine fragmentierte Gegenwart verweisend, nutzt die Künstlerin die Architektur des Museums, um Überlegungen zum Städtebau als Schauplatz gesellschaftlichen Wandels anzustoßen.
Filmprogramm
In Zusammenarbeit mit der Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf und dem Filmfestival Filme ohne Grenzen wird ein diverses Filmprogramm mit preisgekrönten Produktionen, Filmklassikern und aktuellen Werken im Open-Air-Kino gezeigt. Fiktionale, dokumentarische und animierte Filme eröffnen persönliche und gesellschaftliche Perspektiven und zeigen die Vielfalt filmischer Erzählformen.

Workshops
In Workshops kann man angelehnt an die Wandarbeit Der Botanische Garten von Robin Rhode im Außenraum des MINSK mit dem fotografischen Verfahren Cyanotypie eigene Kunstwerke herstellen. Darüber hinaus können Besucher:innen gemeinsam mit der Künstlerin Melina Matzanke Sauerkraut fermentieren und mit Julie, der Alchemistin von Edible Alchemy, Sauerteig in der Ofen-Skulptur Brenda herstellen.
Kulinarik
In der Cafébar HEDWIG gibt es während des Sommerfestivals hausgemachte Kuchen, Eis, herzhafte Stullen und BBQ sowie Kaltgetränke, Weine, Aperitifs und Kaffeespezialitäten. Aus der Ofen-Skulptur Brenda von Gabriel Chaile wird in Anwesenheit des Künstlers frische Pizza serviert. An allen drei Tagen hat sich die Cafébar mit msg.noodle für ein Nudel-Pop-up zusammengetan.
Führungen
Das Kollektiv JAJAJA hat für das Sommerfestival einen ortsspezifischen Live-Audiowalk entwickelt: Die Teilnehmer:innen erkunden gemeinsam mit den Performance-Duo Iris Minich und Arvild Baud mittels Sound, diskursiven Interventionen und Bewegung die fragile Welt-Beziehung zwischen dem Kunsthaus und der unmittelbaren Umgebung auf dem Brauhausberg. Darüber hinaus bilden die Geschichte und Architektur des MINSK als ehemaliges Terrassenrestaurant der DDR sowie die Positionen von Künstlerinnen, die am und um das MINSK zu erleben sind, den Fokus für verschiedene Themenführungen.

From August 28 to 30, DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam will celebrate its first summer festival, MINSK LIVE—a weekend dedicated to exchange, encounters, and shared experiences. Over the course of three days, live formats such as performances, music, film, culinary experiences, workshops, and talks will take over both the indoor and outdoor spaces of DAS MINSK.
The festival kicks off on Friday, August 28, with the opening of the exhibition The Ceramics Workshop of Wilfriede Maaß.

The exhibition in the cabinet space of DAS MINSK—running from September 5, 2026, alongside the retrospective Annemirl Bauer: A Rupture in the World—traces the history of Wilfriede Maaß’s studio in East Berlin. In the 1980s, the ceramics studio located at Schönfließer Straße 21—which would later double as a gallery—served as an important space for art that did not conform to the rules of the GDR. On view are tableware sets, plates, vases, and experimental ceramic sculptures shaped by Wilfriede Maaß and painted by various artists. The works from the Wilfriede Maaß Collection engage in a dialogue with 1980s and 1990s paintings from the Hasso Plattner Collection, as well as with works on loan from key figures associated with the workshop.
On Friday, August 28, at 7 PM, the summer festival opens with an artists‘ talk by Wilfriede Maaß and Sabine Herrmann, moderated by the exhibition’s curator, Daniel Milnes.
The opening will be accompanied by an open-air film program, where author, curator, and film historian Claus Löser will present four short films by Gino Hahnemann, Helge Leiberg, Christine Schlegel, and Cornelia Schleime from the first half of the 1980s that emerged within the milieu of GDR subculture and correspond, directly or indirectly, with the workshop.
Alongside the exhibition program, Cafébar HEDWIG, in collaboration with OSC Berlin, will host an evening of sake and a DJ set, reminiscent of the Sake Bar established by Mikael Eriksson in 1996 at Wilfriede Maaß’s gallery.

Ost-West-Kantine
The Ost-West-Kantine [East West Canteen] is an artistic and discursive format developed by artists Gesine Danckwart, Katrin Hentschel, and Masha Qrella. It facilitates encounters, explores questions of East and West, and weaves together art, music, personal stories, and discourse. The canteen’s arrangement brings everyone—audience and guests alike—together at one table, where they can chop, play, sew, craft, sing, celebrate, and talk. With guests and collaborators including Idil Baydar, Schorsch Kamerun, Stefanie Plattner, Grit Seymour, and the V.E.R.Z. Chor des Rechenzentrums, the audience can look forward to a variety of stories and perspectives.
Artistic Interventions
James Gregory Atkinson, W. A. Mozart, arranged for symphony orchestra by Sabac-el-Cher

Under the initiative of James Gregory Atkinson and the direction of Daniele G. Daude, the Berlin String Archestra and guest musicians will present new interpretations of two pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arranged by the Prussian court conductor Gustav Sabac el Cher (1868–1934): the overtures to the dramma giocoso La Finta Giardiniera and the opera giocosa La Villanelle rapita. The performance will be accompanied by a presentation of Atkinson’s album 3 Lieder für Marie Nejaron Saturday, August 29, while a conversation between artist, writer, and activist Katharina Oguntoye and musicologist and saxophonist Harald Kisiedu will take place on Sunday, August 30. Both events will be moderated by writer and editor Eric Otieno Sumba.
Sarah Ama Duah, to build, to bury, to remember

In to build, to bury, to remember, artist Sarah Ama Duah creates a performative installation that bridges the gap between sculpture and the body. At DAS MINSK, she collaborates with four other performers to construct living latex monuments informed by her exploration of historical monuments and their contemporary potential.
Magdalena Mitterhofer, Manette

In the site-specific performance Manette, scenes staged on the grounds of DAS MINSK appear as if taken from a video game. Drawing on historical references while alluding to a fragmented present, the artist uses the museum’s architecture to encourage reflection on urban planning as a setting for social change.
Film Program
As part of the summer festival, DAS MINSK—in collaboration with the Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg and the FILM WITHOUT BORDERS Festival—presents a diverse film program featuring award-winning productions, classic films, and contemporary works. Fiction, documentary, and animated films alike offer personal and social perspectives, showcasing the full diversity of cinematic storytelling.

Workshops
In an outdoor workshop inspired by Robin Rhode’s wall installation „The Botanical Garden,“ located opposite DAS MINSK, visitors can create their own artworks using the cyanotype photographic process. In other workshops, visitors can join artist Melina Matzanke to ferment sauerkraut, or work with Julie, the alchemist from Edible Alchemy, to make sourdough in the oven sculpture Brenda.
Cuisine
During the summer festival, Cafébar HEDWIG will serve homemade cakes, ice cream, hearty sandwiches and BBQ, as well as cold drinks, wine, aperitifs, and specialty coffee. Fresh pizza will be served from Brenda, the oven sculpture by Gabriel Chaile, with the artist in attendance. On all three days, the Cafébar will team up with msg.noodle for a temporary noodle pop-up.
Guided Tours
The collective JAJAJA has developed a site-specific live audio walk for the summer festival. Together with performance duo Iris Minich and Arvild Baud, participants explore the delicate relationship between the Kunsthaus and its immediate surroundings on the Brauhausberg through sound, conversation, and movement. Other themed guided tours focus on the history and architecture of DAS MINSK—a former GDR-era terrace restaurant—as well as the works by female artists on display in and around the museum.
